Nocturne

I’m a night owl, the happiest when I’m covered in paint at 2am, consumed by my work. I think it's the silence that draws me, pulls me into myself and in these moments, I am whole.

Regret 1

This painting celebrates the path not taken. For many years, I regretted a life decision that would have taken me down a completely different path. When I finally decided to paint these emotions, this piece turned into one of remembrance and celebration. I realized one can lament over past choices, or one can recognize how these choices create unexpected paths, that when explored, can yield beautiful results. Not only does this painting honor the person I once was, but it also celebrates the person I have become.

Grief

"Her absence is like the sky, spread over everything." — C.S. Lewis

“Everyone grieves in different ways. For some, it could take longer or shorter. I do know it never disappears. An ember still smolders inside me. Most days, I don’t notice it, but, out of the blue, it’ll flare to life.” —Maria V. Snyder, Storm Glass

My mother passed away on October 29th. In an instant, my world shifted. The person who molded me into the woman I am was gone. I grieve for the conversations we would never have, for the moments we would never share. This was painted on the 3rd anniversary of my mother’s passing.
